Zechariah's Song - Day 5

Day 5 - Morning

“In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
From Isaiah 40

The accomplishment of any sort of work usually requires pre-work, preparation. What are the places of wilderness and desert in your life? What needs lifting up, and what needs humbling? What does preparing the way of the Lord look like for you today?

The Song of Zechariah with Response

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
For he has visited and redeemed his people;
And has raised up a horn of salvation for us
In the house of his servant David
As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets
Who have been from of old,
Salvation from our enemies,
And from the hand of all who hate us;

To show mercy towards our fathers,
To remember his holy covenant,
The oath which he swore to Abraham, our father,
To grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.

We recall your faithfulness to generations.
From Abraham to Israel-Jacob,
From King David to King Jesus,
To us.
We remember
That you remember.

For he has visited and redeemed his people;
To remember his holy covenant,
Because of the tender mercy of our God,
Whereby the dawn from on high will visit us,
To shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death;
To guide our feet into the way of peace.

Because of your tender mercy,
You are Immanuel,
Shining on those under death’s shadow.
From Luke 1

Pause & Reflect

Great and marvelous are your works,
Lord God, the Almighty!
Righteous and true are your ways,
King of the nations.
Who wouldn’t fear you, Lord,
and glorify your name?

For you only are holy.
For all the nations will come and worship before you.
For your righteous acts have been revealed.

Come Lord Jesus.
