Mary's Song - Day 4

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.
from Isaiah 9:2

Mary has only known the rule of the Roman’s and their puppet kings. Yet her song praises a strong King, with a holy name who has saved his people before and will again, just as he has promised. Even though she doesn’t know how or where the light of God will break in she hopes, she waits, she believes.

How sweet are your promises to our taste,
more than honey to our mouth!
Your word is a lamp to our feet,
and a light for our path.
Revive us, Lord, according to your word.

The Song of Mary with Response
My soul magnifies the Lord.
My spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior,
for he has looked at the humble state of his servant.

We can not see the way,
Our times are dark.
We wait,
We wait for you to reveal your salvation.

For behold, from now on, all generations will call me blessed.
For he who is mighty has done great things for me.
Holy is his name.
His mercy is for generations of generations on those who fear him.
He has shown strength with his arm.

Our need is great.
We need to know mercy,
Your mercy,
The kindness that you have made known.

He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down princes from their thrones.
And has exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things.
He has sent the rich away empty.

Remember us.
Hear us.
We know our need.
Reveal yourself to us today.

He has given help to Israel, his servant,
That he might remember mercy,
As he spoke to our fathers,
To Abraham and his offspring forever.

Let your help come quickly.
Meet us right where we our,
We can not find you alone.

Psalm 91
He who dwells
In the secret place of the Most High
Will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of Lord,
He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in whom I trust.

He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler,
And from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers.
Under his wings you will take refuge.
His faithfulness is your shield and rampart.
Because you have made the Lord your refuge,
And the Most High your dwelling place,
No evil shall happen to you,
Neither shall any plague come near your dwelling.

“Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him.
I will set him on high, because he has known my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him.
I will be with him in trouble.
I will deliver him, and honor him.
I will satisfy him with long life,
and show him my salvation.”

Come Lord Jesus.
